School is finally out for the summer. Amen, Hallelujah! As I'm now within 2 months of moving, I've been doing A LOT of downsizing of my possessions. Since I was leaving my school, I had already started that process in my classroom. Many things given to students and other teachers. One of the 6th Grade ELA teachers is taking over my classroom next year (moving to teach 7th grade math) so I left all of my math stuff for her. Now all that's left is my apartment . . . Goal: take 3 suitcases and a book bag on the flight
I already majorly downsized my wardrobe when the weather started changing again. I'm down to everything fitting in my small bedroom closet. Yes, everything . . . shoes, jackets, work clothes, workout clothes . . . everything. Grace will be in town tomorrow to see what all she wants to keep before moving out to New Mexico. Thank god for sisters who graduate/move at convenient life moments. Once that gets sorted out, the real downsizing can commence. I already have most of the stuff I'm keeping in my mom's attic ready to go but then I'll take stuff for Grace to my mom's house and sell/donate everything else that doesn't fit in my 3 suitcases and book bag. It has been a surprisingly stress reducing activity downsizing. As far as the rest of my summer goes, plans include a Caribbean cruise with my boyfriend (I get to play with sloths!!!), my sister's wedding, a couple other (still to be fully planned) trips, lots of reading and hanging by the pool, and, finally, driving my car cross country to Independence, Missouri for Crystal to have. In case anyone wants to make sure they see me before I skip the country, I'll be around the Atlanta area until July 14, South Carolina from then until July 18, then making stops in Asheville, Nashville, and St. Louis on the way to Independence.
